Boat-based whale watching in Península Valdés

Boat-based whale watching is the region’s ultimate naturalist adventure: a navigation to observe the Southern Right Whale in Golfo Nuevo. Departures are from Puerto Pirámides (~100 km from Puerto Madryn) with licensed captains, crew, and guides aboard safe and comfortable vessels.

Typically, the navigation lasts approximately 1 h 30 min. Depending on the animals’ location, the crew navigates within the usual operating area. In addition to whales, it is common to see South American sea lions and coastal birds. During the season, you can witness courtship, calving, and nursing behaviours at remarkably close range.

For that reason, our boat-based whale watching experience prioritizes safety, wildlife interpretation, and compliance with local regulations in Península Valdés. We therefore recommend booking in advance during peak months and arriving at the boarding point with time to spare. By booking and/or participating in a tour with Tinamou Travel ,
you agree to the following terms. If you have any questions, please contact us before booking.

1) Wildlife and sightings

We work with free-ranging wildlife. Sightings of birds, whales, penguins, orcas or other species depending
on the season are subject to natural factors and weather conditions. Therefore, we cannot guarantee
the presence, proximity or behavior of wildlife.

Lack of wildlife sightings is not a reason for a refund.

2) Weather, safety and circumstances beyond our control

Due to weather conditions, tides, road conditions, area closures, instructions from authorities or any external
situation affecting safety or operations, the company may reschedule,
modify the itinerary and/or cancel the activity in whole or in part. This may
occur in advance or on the day of the tour.

If, for safety reasons, the itinerary is shortened or modified, no partial refunds will be issued.

3) Third-party services (for example: boat trips)

When a tour includes services operated by third parties (for example, boat-based wildlife watching), their
operation depends on the provider and on permits or external conditions (for example, port closures).

If a third-party component is cancelled, only the amount corresponding to that specific service
will be refunded, according to the provider’s policy and subject to the effective refund from
that provider. If the land-based tour takes place, it will not be refunded.

4) What is included and what is not

The tour includes only what is detailed in your voucher/proposal. Entrance fees to reserves,
meals, personal expenses and optional activities are not included unless explicitly stated in
writing.

5) Information and confirmation

Schedules, routes, logistics and prices are indicative until final confirmation of the booking. We may make
adjustments for operational, safety or destination-related reasons.

6) Payments, deposits, cancellations and refunds

The deposit secures your booking and is deducted from the total price. The deposit is
non-refundable, except in the event that the company cancels the tour entirely and it is not
possible to reschedule within the dates of your stay as informed by you. In that case, 100 percent of the
amount paid will be refunded.

Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance: a 20 percent fee of the tour price applies.
Cancellations within 48 hours of the tour or no-shows: a 100 percent fee of the tour price applies.

7) Conduct, regulations and conservation

All participants must follow the guide’s instructions and local regulations. The company reserves the right to
remove from the tour any participant whose behavior or condition puts the group, third parties or the environment
at risk, without the right to a refund.

Each participant is responsible for their personal belongings and equipment.
